I second Shep. There are probably more B16 civics then there are D16's. Swapping in a new engine used to be different, now its the other way around. Don't listen to the haters. Keep the D. I'm lookin to gain around 155 hp with the setup i will have on my D16. How much will i spend... Only 1K, beats buying a 3K engine

Sweet ride yo, Seems like a lot of haters round here, keep it up. Sure you can swap out your D16, but why not slowly upgrade till you have a sohc that could face off with a B16, GO AGAIST THE GRAIN AND DONT BE A CLONE!

Very cool car, good all around improvements. One thing I have heard you can do in place of a complete swap and having to worry about emissions is to do a "mini me" swap and change your head out for a d16y8 head that way you get a little more power with the vtec-e. -BL 1997 Civic EX

So what if it is the easy way out, Phixion? My point is why waste twice as much time and money trying to build up a D-series when you can just save your money and put something in there that will outpeform a modded D in stock form with much room for improvement?

I saw an add in a magazine for a turbo kit designed for Civics with D engines. It read, "Take your Civic from 115 to 170 hp!" And this was for a VTEC equipped D, mind you! They wanted $3500 for the kit!!!!! Yeah you could waste your money on that, or you could take it and buy a B16 w/transmission and ECU, have it installed and probably have some cash left over to get some bolt ons, and you will probably see more HP than the turboed D, naturally aspirated!!!!! Then see, you can save your money again to turbo the B, and then imagine where you will be!

I'm sorry, but I just don't see any point in throwing tons of money at a D-series engine, especially a Non-VTEC one. It was made for fuel efficiency, not performance. A B-series is definately the way to go for a Civic!

Clean Civic. Not too fond of the front, but hey, it works. Don't be discouraged by anti D-series comments, many don't realize or under estimate the potential of the D. Heck, I'm building mine up. A swap is the easy way out. ;) Anywho, keep up the good work with it!

Instead of the TV's and the DVD player why don't you take the money and throw a dual cam engine in there instead. Sorry to say, but I really think it's kind of pointless buying a racing chip and making performance mods on a stock DX engine. I'd say get yourself a nice B-series to work with before making any more performance mods, but that's just me...
