That's an EXCELLENT idea. And so true about BMW, one of the best platforms to race with, but expensive as heck to upkeep and maintain. :( The K20 is the ONLY motor I'd ever consider swapping into my EK/EJ coupe, except of course the DOHC D16A9 motor... ;) And since you plan to do the K20/24 swap, you'll save money by purchasing just a shell of choice since it won't need a motor anyways when bought. Good luck on that project if you go that route!!

A buddy of mine that's going road racing at Buttonwillow here in CA was telling me about the RS2 tires just last night, but I'm still holding out for a set of Azenis RT-615's when they do decide to release them in the size I get, which should be anytime now here in Q3. I hear the Dunlop Direzzas are another pretty nice grippy tire.

You know me, I'd still say go with an E36 platform. Very balanced, great astetics, and just a blast the drive, not that the others aren't. A Miata is another good road/track car, I mean they handle superbly in auto-X and on windy mountain roads too. The Z3, well I haven't seen very many in action other than zooming down the freeway, lol! Eitherway, any of those cars should be fine choices. Eek, it's been a year I'm just now seeing, wow does time fly. But you've seemed to taken it with a grain of salt, and things have worked out, so much props there! :D

Check oh both classes between H-stock and STS. See which is more closer to your times, then run in it. ;) Right now I run STS, but with my H-brace techically I should be in SM2, but since I'm not a threat to the top 10 or even 15 they don't protest it, and I'm all good since it's all local within the region here. If I ran Topeka, I'd have to class absolutely by the rules, and go to SM2. I wouldn't think H-stock is a bad class to run in though.

Yup, I LOVE road racing at the tracks. I'm going to Buttonwillow raceway here in Central CA next weekend for more road racing, I'm totally stoked! And it's fun because I'm going with 3 other buddies who will be doing it too. Anyways, just keep at it and you'll be destroying them Minis in no time at all. ;) Good luck, and thanks for the comments!!

I really need to get my butt to an auto-X EVO school, I think that might be my missing link to getting faster times, they are so pricey though, I guess worth it in the end if I can hang with the top 5-10.

Finally got to auto-X the first time this season, this past weekend. It went alright. My new 15mm Del Sol VTEC rear swaybar really does no justice compared to the 22mm ITR rear bar I used to have, it's just not nearly as thick of course. I'm definitely going to re-valve my rear Tein coilovers so they can accomidate stiffer 8kg springs which should compensate for the stiffness lost by using a smaller bar. I went to a smaller after the ITR bar started tearing out my subframe, and I had to have it welded fixed. :( Have you done any events this year yet? I might do another in 2 weeks, w00t!

well I suggest M3 or S4 :) but M3 is more hardcore I think :)

Aww man oops, I think I scared B away by calling him out, lol! I'm sad he didn't comment to me before he left. =(

Posted By: phixion
Date: 03/24/2005
I sure as heck hope I'm ready! My first event is next weekend on April 3rd. All I need is my new 15mm Del Sol VTEC rear swaybar to arrive on my doorstep so I can put it on before I race. I can still put my ITR bar on for that day, but I'd rather not hassle with putting it on to take it off and then put the final bar on. Bah, I'll go barless if it's not here by then, LOL!!!

We have BMWCCA events here too, I haven't been to one yet, but would like to check it out.

Thanks bro. And play those cards right, that's one deal you'll walk away quite happy with. Who knows, I have plans to get a Hachi Roku (AE86) coupe and do a Levin front end conversion on it as a project car, but perhaps I'll sell my Civic eventually to make way for an E36 M3 as an everyday and possibly road course track car. Gah I want an E36!! =\

Anyways, good luck to you as well!

Thanks for the compliments man. Yeah, the weather is generally good to hit up the tracks here in the winter, but not lately. We've had rain the last 2 weeks, many feet of snow in the local mountains and there's more rain on the way scheduled to hit us this afternoon. With how things are looking, I wouldn't be surprised if we see rain at the trackday in a couple weeks, LOL! They still run rain or shine though, so that'll be cool. Anyways, how's the E36 coming along? I'd LOVE someday to own a '98 E36 M3 coupe. That's my fav BMW 3-series body style by far!!

Wow, I love those bimmers.. the only thing I'd atleast do is throw on some rims or something or you should get some BMW M3 rims.. the newer ones.. that would set off the car.. then a couple engine mods here and there just enough so your not denoting everything into this, and you have the longest commets I have seen on this site now biggins, lol

Plasmex, heres the story (of what I know) his car was stolen from a parking garage, 2 days ( i think? ) went by and they found his car, took him awhile for the insurance to let him know if its fixable, turned out the frame was badly bent, because the people that stole it took the rims off and just dropped it on the ground from there, so there were severe frame and suspension damage (yes I know I sound like a stalker Biggins, lol, but this is just what I know)

Holy cow man, sorry to see that some people can be so selfish and inconsiderate than to take other people's stuff. I really liked this car too! Anywho, good luck with things man!

hey thanks for the offer on the mirrors. Im gonna have to pass on it. I am trying to do some mods that will have the most impact on the overall appearance of the car. I am definitely going to get some of the red and clear tails and you know eventually a nice set of rims. lol Since you had like the same civic i do i was wondering what is the best site to purchase parts from? Thanx again

It actually came back much better than I thought it would. I wasn't expecting them to find it at all.
I'm still in shock and haven't decided what to do. My hands are tied and everything is in the hands of the insurance company. I probably will fix this if I can and start taking the bus, but I've already begun checking the classifieds.

goddammit... people these days have no respect. sorry to hear about the bad news. i had my other accord stolen too. is it considered to be totaled?

Posted By: d@vid
Date: 07/23/2004
If you find the bastards that did this e-mail me, I'm only 7 hours from D.C. and I wouldn't care a bit to head up there to help you fix this little problem.

sorry to hear bout ur car man ...u can buy mine if u want!!! hope u get it back in one piece

Posted By: biggins
Date: 07/21/2004
Also, I will have tons of OEM and some aftermarket parts that I will be ready to clear out.

Posted By: biggins
Date: 07/21/2004
With the insurance money I get, it is looking like I will be buying a 93-99 Impreza 2.2L and turboing it. I will only do suspension mods and 02 WRX wheels this summer and a turbo when I return from France. I loved my Honda, but I am very paranoid about owning another like this anytime soon. Even if it's found it will not be the same. Seven other Honda/Acura/Nissans with extensive mods have been stolen near where mine was, so I am not expecting anything back.

Posted By: d@vid

Damn dude that sucks!! It seems like people can't enjoy anything without someone f*cking everything up. Maybe they're stupid and haven't chopped it yet and you'll get it back with only minor mishaps. Sorry for your loss, she was a bute!!!

Posted By: biggins
Date: 07/21/2004
This car was stolen today. If you live in DC, please be on the lookout, but I know it has likely already been chopped.

Nice car, love the colour, love the Rota's, not too keen on the standard headlights could do with some black housings (doesnt have to be angel eyes).

And would look/probably handle better a bit closer to the ground.

Posted By: phixion

I agree that color matched JDM bumpers (that have the corner moldings) would be a nice addition, and with the insets left blackto match the side moldings. I wish they made those bumpers for '99-'00's... :( Cool track pic BTW, I have yet to get mine on a road course, but I might take it out to Buttonwillow Raceway here in CA later this summer for an annual auto-X event, but we'll see.

I want to see a picture of the back of your car you said it was painted?

Posted By: d@vid
Date: 07/02/2004
Yeah, I hear UMD is a little crazy at times. I have a friend with a Z24 cavalier and he got busted for magnaflow catback and another friend with no muffers (but cats) on a Silverado and he was busted. Around where I live they are dying to find sometihng to get your a$$ for. That's why I got a ticket for my tag covers. He pulled me over and said it was "possible" steet racing. My friend with the cavy was reving at me at a light and neither one of us took off cause we already determined that my civic will beat his automatic chevy. But I got pulled and he said I pulled out to fast (no burnout, no black marks because I asked) and he gave me wreckless after crawling under my car and making sure my muffler was stock and I had a cat. And sure enough, when he handed me the tickets, the second was improper equipment.

hey nice honda but your ride needs to be lowered.

M3 mirrors? I like those, I didn't care for the fenders she had. If I lower my car (including adj. suspensions), I move up in classes for autocrossing. I do not want to be up against Miatas, Porsches, Vettes, etc. Plus, if I lowered it, I lose my practicality. This is not a show car, and my new photos are not up yet.

Posted By: Gumby99integ
Date: 06/25/2004
speaking of Mirrors ( my friend Nancy's civic, you said you didnt like the M3 mirrors ) um you're dont even match, they are ulgy black. you could paint them or get some awesome Spoon red mirrors. Oh then you could paint your side trim and handels red to match also. Oh and you drop you're car b/c it looks like a 4x4.
But i like the style you have going.

I was bored so I decided to create a new top 10... Never fear because the obsessive Civic owners who must have the ever coveted top 10 spot on hondashowoff.com will be back in a day or two... I've just gotta 'shake stuff up'- that reminds me, I need to get some chocolate milk

Thanks, since everything seems to be gettin screwed up (bent rims, chopped tires, stolen grilles, scraped front, and more) I've made this more driveable for my 2 hr commute to and from DC every morning. I'll post pics with the new Rota/Toyo combo in a few days.
