I have to say that seeing the oil pressure gage suddenly drop and having the oil light in the car come on while you are at full throttle is a very scary thing. I was driving the other day about 3 min from my house when the oil pressure gage went from 40psi to 5psi. When i got home there was a waterfall of oil comming out from under the car and i thought the worst. By the time i got the car jacked up it was out of oil, so i put more oil in it and turned it on to find out where it was leaking from. Turns out it was just the oil pan gasket, at least that's what it looked like. I will know more next weekend. I had to move to Petersburg, VA for my intership so the final diagnosis will have to wait. I'll try to keep you guys posted.

damn, sorry to hear that. I was really hoping to see what kinda numbers you'd put down with that setup. I hope the gasket is the only problem.

congrats on the internship though.

Well it wasn't the oil pan gasket. I changed that and it still leaks. I think it is the seal between the crank pulley and the block. I'm not sure what I'm gonna do now. I wont be back home for 2 weeks, so I guess I'll have a while to think about it.

Did you check theh cam seal and the countershaft seal? The countershaft seal is a biggie, because it can make your motor go blooey if it lets go.

Something to at least look into. The F's have a lot of interesting places they can leak from.

I checked the link and that's not it. It's definitely leaking from the seal that is in between the pulley attached to the crankshaft and the block.

I'm pretty sure this is the seal that is leaking:

I'm gonna see if i need to have the motor pulled to get to it. I keep you guys informed on the cost and stuff. I think one reason my went out so fast is because of the oil pressure from the turbo. Depending on how fast i am going, it can get up to 80psi.

well i read a little more in depth on the link you sent and i am thinking that is the problem. i think the seal may have "walked out" and the oil just poured out of the engine. I think the only thing that saved my motor was the turbo. the return line slowed down the oil enough so that it all didn't drain out. next week am a going to start the fun project of taking off the timing belt, timing covers, and all the gears and pulleys so i can see what the heck happened.

Alright so apparently this was a huge recall that affected several types of cars. Chances are if you had your car serviced for a timing belt at a honda dealership you should be fine, since they were supposed to add this retainer for you. From what i have learned this is a $3 part that can save your motor so it is worth while to do some research and find out if you have this retainer or not.

The cars affected are:

Accord 2dr 94-96 all
Accord 2dr 97 from VIN 1HGCD7...VA000001 thru 1HGCD7...VA027988
Accord 4dr 94-96 all
Accord 4dr 97 from VIN 1HGCD5...VA000001 thru 1HGCD5...VA179278
Accord 5dr 94-96 all
Accord 5dr 97 from VIN 1HGCE1...VA000001 thru 1HGCE1...VA008642

Prelude 94-96 all
Prelude 97 from VIN JHMBB6...VC000001 thru JHMBB6...VC008074

Odyssey 95-96 all
Odyssey 97 from VIN JHMRA1...VC000001 thru JHMRA1...VC011628

alright well i have a few updates...

Since i can only work on the car on the weekends i haven't made a lot of progress. I have a lot of it taken apart but i can't seem to get the crank pulley off. I bought an impact wrench and a 10 gallon compressor to get it off, but it won't budge. They make a special tool to get the pulley off, which i bought on ebay and it should be here next week sometime.

From what i have taken apart so far, i can see the balance shaft seal just sitting completely out on the balance shaft so i am guessing that is why the oil leaked out. While i had the p/s pump and alternator off i decided to take the a/c out. So now i have a little more room to work with which i might use for a bigger turbo..... i also decided to upgrade to some lightweight pulleys while i have everything apart.

I just can't wait to get the car fixed. It's killing me to not be able to drive it.

good to hear there is progress. I'm sure it will be on the road in no time.

i had to use a 3/4 inch impact gun with a 50 gallon compressor to get my crankshaft bolt off and i still had to hold it there for about 15 minutes.

dang.....

hopefully i wont need that. i think once i get this tool it will be a little easier.

UPDATE:

4 weekends and $300 later i finally got that damn bolt out. I hope no one here ever has to go throught that. It was by far the most frustrating thing i have ever had to do. I took out the a/c while i had everything apart and i decided to get some aftermarket pulleys as well. I found some blue OBX pulleys on ebay for $70. As it sits now, the battery is dead, but i was able to jump start it and drive it down the road. For some reason its not making any boost. I'll have to try again next weekend and see what is going on and i'll try to get some pics of the new pulleys and stuff.

yeah, i haven't really been able to drive it for just over a month. what really sucks is i missed the huge cruise night they have every 4th of July. People bring cars from all over the state and even out of state. Would have been nice to show off the new turbo but oh well...

Yea I know how you feel I was stuck in Florida with family while people raced anything from stock to full race up here at midnight, boy was I ticked.....
