I have a 1200 watt amp, running 2 10" subs. I have an inline fuse 10" from the battery. My battery is a 550 amp battery. I turn on my car, and my subs look like they are in slow motion, and they dont hit as hard. I have a brand new alternator. I think i just need to get an optima yellow top. but i just want to know what you guys think.

do you have a cap? what kind of subs and amp do you have? personally i think that your amp is way to powerful for your subs. i could be wrong. i have one amp pushing one 12" with no cap and i have no problems what so ever. but my amp only runs 375 rms and my sub is about 800 peak. tell us the entire set up so we can try to help better.

come on someone has to know. Im gonna bridge 2 6X9's on the amp as well, and see if that helps.

this might be a silly question, but are you 100% sure you it's wired up correctly?

100% sure, ive got 4 guage wire all the way...an inline fuse 10 inches from the battery, and a perfect ground. Im hooking up some 6x9's off my amp this week as well as my 10's, and maybe i just have to much power.

is all the wiring new? i was thinking maybe the rca's are bad.

the power wire has probably 20 hours on it, and the rca's have prolly 10 on them.

Re wire and get a yellow top just for the system and see what happens if that does it try just running with the yellow top battry alone and see if it still works :)

caps are useless,,, more specs are needed on the subs and amp,, rms figures,,, watts max means nothing, you might be underpowering your subs. how did you wire up the subs to the amp? a optima yellow top is not neccessary for that system at all.... standard batt will do the job

you might be only hurting your subs if they do that when your car starts up you might want to wire a toggle switch(kill switch basically) to turn your amp on and off

talk about an old thread. It was just that the amp couldnt push out enough power for 2 10's and 2 6X9's. its running good now with the same amp and 2 kicker comp 10's
