its a new head, the original that came with the car sucked to me so i changed it to match the wood trim. since i have a 92 accord mines does not come with the sports button. only 90-91 accod have them(like yours)

but since you have a h22 in your why would you need the sports? unless you still have the stock tranny in it i would take it off i put one you like

:) i actually already have a motor sitting in my garage waiting for the instalation :) its an H23a out of a 95 prelude SI with 25000 miles on it, the only reason i picked it is because it still has a sleaved block which is better for a turbo set up, i think i am going to just stick with the auto and mabe buy another accord or civic thats a five speed, but i want to finish mine first :)

Hey, I saw the comments you made to Hondadude141 about automatic transmissions and I just wanted to throw my 2 cents in to the discussion...

What you said is right, for the most part. An auto tranny can shift itself faster than a person can shift a manual tranny, and a lot of the high-powered sports cars can actually be faster with an automatic than with a manual.

Here's the thing though...an auto tranny on a Corvette for example, is way different than the auto tranny you'd find on a Civic or Accord. The Corvette tranny comes beefed up from the factory because it was purposefully built to be attached to a massively powerful V8 engine pushing out 400 horses. A typical Honda auto tranny on the other hand, is meant to be attached to a measly 4 cylinder that's only putting out around 90-150 horses. Honda auto trannies typically have fairly long gears; this helps them get great gas mileage, but also means that they're going to be severely lacking in the acceleration department.

Even in the lowliest of Hondas (take a Civic DX for example), the manual tranny version will have an edge over the auto tranny version. The manual tranny will typically be geared slightly shorter, plus it will have the advantage of 5 gears over the automatic's four.

There's another issue to consider here as well. Because Honda auto trannies are designed to be used with economy car engines, they're not really built to hold much more power than what their engine counterpart produces in stock form. If you throw an intake and exhaust on your auto tranny Civic, you'll be fine. However, if you throw a turbo setup on your auto tranny Civic, and it's now producing almost twice as much power as it was before, the transmission is likely to break before too long. Manual trannies can take a lot more abuse before they need to be beefed up, and even then, it's usually cheaper to buy parts and rebuild a manual than it is to try and beef up a weak automatic.

Basically what I'm trying to say here is that in the case of big engine RWD sports cars, then yes, auto trannies can be better. In the case of cars like ours though, a manual tranny will almost always have the advantage. That's why you see everybody and their uncle saying "swap to manual, auto sucks." You're right when you say that statement isn't always true, but for Hondas, most of the time it is actually true.

There are exceptions of course. I'm sure the automatic H22 tranny that you have is more performance-oriented than a lot of the more economy-minded Honda engine/tranny combos out there. And of course you can get parts to beef up a Honda automatic. You can even get custom-built race transmissions that are automatics. The problem with that though, is that they are NOT cheap. Unless you've got a fat wallet or a major hookup, it's probably cheaper for a lot of people to just go with a manual transmission.

Well, I think I'm about done. I hope that wasn't offensive or insulting, I certainly don't mean it to be. I just wanted to shed some light on why everyone says to swap to manual when building up a Honda rather than just stick with automatics.

Your car is looking good by the way, keep it up!

11/09/07 09:39pm
Of course you could install Monitors on your Racing seats. Home girl, if a monitor can be installed on a Bumper of a car, then you could install it anywhere you can cut a 7" square!

You have a point on the cleanliness on the Leather you want to get on your Seats, but Vinyl would be a whole lot cheaper and could clean up just about the same. >>>Later<<<

I paid like $850 for my whole interior. What are you planning to do? >>>Later<<<

10/30/07 01:04pm
lol i never paint any part in my car its all stock ( expt the seats) from what i can tell you car came with the brown looking color interior right ? and your car used to be tan gold? well if so then redoing the whole interior will be costy unless you do some work your self and save lots

of cash ( expt on the seats) . see if you can find a 1991 Accrord SE in a junk yard(good luck) and take the door panels from that car ( if it has it ) because they are black like mines are ( mines came of my other accord SE)

if you can't find a SE accord then you might find the LX -EX any year from 90 - 93 that is tan inside. the dash on that model is black like mines is black since i have a tan inside version. take the dash from there change the vin # so it matchs your car. as for the door panels you can paint those black. i know your husband might not like the idea but i did it before on my past accords and it ooks great. with no smells nor chips of any short unless you really bang into it but since i know you car about the car you would be good. as for the carpet you would just have to order that on ebay for $150 or so . the seats is where you would have to spend more money on but its still a cheap start. i have owed over 15 accord's so if you ever need some tips just let me know.
Blazeteck

10/28/07 02:29pm
Now as for my interior it was done by a shop over here in NYC $900 for the seats. the door panels i did my self since i didn't want to pay an extra $300 for the doors to be done as well.
Blazeteck

10/28/07 02:25pm
Im not saying there a problem with them, just that those are NOT JDM one piece headlights they are after market and they where really meant for the 92 -93 front, i had the sam one's on mine and the have a curve on the front coner meant for the grill from a 92 -93. just wanted to let you know what was the deal with it but again in no way am i hating on you car, it looks to good for that.
HondaChick

10/26/07 11:59am
It is the one peice Projection JDM Headlights and they fit perfectly fine, there are no problems with them.
Blazeteck

10/20/07 09:42am
very nice accord for an LX. keep up the good work...maybe you should change the headlights to the one piece headlight since the ones you have don't really go for 90 -91 accords. they was meant for 92-93. check out my accord's
